Corporate social responsibility (CSR) is a form of corporate self-regulation integrated into a business model. Ideally, CSR policy would function as a built-in, self-regulating mechanism whereby business would monitor and ensure its adherence to law, ethical standards, and international norms. Business would embrace responsibility for the impact of their activities on the environment, consumers, employees, communities, stakeholders and all other members of the public sphere.
“Business has a responsibility beyond its basic responsibility to its shareholders; a responsibility to a broader constituency that includes its key stakeholders: customers, employee, NGOs, government - the people of the communities in which it operates.” - Courtney Pratt, Former CEO Toronto Hydro The above quote has been a source of great inspiration to us and has helped us form our business philosophy and policy. AGRex believe that in terms of power and influence you can forget about the church, forget politics. There is no more powerful institution in society than business. The business of business should not be about money, it should be about responsibility. It should be about public good, not private greed.
AGRex has taken several initiatives to come up as a responsible business in the society with putting genuine efforts for Corporate as well as Community Social responsibility. We also believe that Business social responsibility should not be coerced; it is a voluntary decision that the entrepreneurial leadership of every company must make on its own.
In fact, we as an Exporting Business Firm were not formed with an intention to control the literal issues of the society on the front line. But, as a socially responsible business, we involved ourselves with such bodies that are literally focused with the society’s welfare and uplift. We partnered with a Non-Government Organization (NGO) known an ‘SAVIGYA’ for our CSR by assisting them in their periodical Seminars, Socio-legal Awareness programs & Workshops in remote rural areas of Central India. Our personnel take full interest in the programs organized by SAVIGYA thereby providing a hand of support in any kind of work.
SAVIGYA has been a pioneer in legal awareness and empowerment work since 2001 as a Non-Government Organization (NGO). They have conducted Legal literacy workshop for a range of groups from Rural & Urban communities, Bureaucrats, Police personnel, Jail inmates and Students.
SAVIGYA works for the goal of creating socio-legal awareness and the basic understanding that the day people become conscious of their rights and laws, it would immediately bring in a time of lesser atrocities and exploitation. With the view of educating all, it becomes very essential to broaden the outreach through different groups. Volunteers from amongst the youth are on such group who can effectively disperse legal information at the grassroots teaching through different groups.
The professionals at SAVIGYA have experience of legal research in the matters of Company law, Arbitration, Constitutional matters, corporate work, Intellectual Property Issues, Trademarks, Patents, Copyright MRTP, Health and Healthcare Insurance, Labor and Employment, Contracts, Mergers and Acquisitions, Public sector law, Banking law, Laws relating to Telecommunications, Rules and Regulations pertaining to Information Technology and Cyber law.
Women and children have always been a special focus of all of SAVIGYA's work having early in our interactions realized their special vulnerability, However, as our program for issues, related to gender such as women's political participation, domestic violence, and children's problems such as Child labor and other children who are exposed to deprivation or violence. Thus, a program was initiated for Women and Children empowerment fondly nicknamed "Tejaswini". AGRex takes fuller interest in the program held and also been supportive financially to meet out the workshop expenses.
Women Awareness and Management Academy (WAMA), HaryanaApparently, SAVIGYA is creating opportunities to provide training to SMS women with a special focus to women’s legal empowerment. Aap ki Kachehri – Aap Ke Dwaar (AAK)AAK is a unique course for dispute resolution in association with Navjyoti Foundation and National Commission for Women. This initiative will train people in dispute resolution and work towards building a more peaceful and productive Indian society by training NGOs in dispute resolution and effective mediation. The initiative has the support of the Central Social Welfare board in addition to Navjyoti Foundation, National Commission for Women and Delhi Commission for Women. The counselor for such cases is being handled by Dr. Kiran Bedi (Indian Police Service Officer). A mediation platform like AKK serves the purpose of providing people with a forum where they can be assured of an open and fair hearing, which is not as time consuming as the judicial process and most importantly, the parties should be able to understand the legalities of their situation and approach the legal options with clarity and confidence.
